据介绍，咸阳渭城中学始建于1955年，是一所历史名校，具有悠久的办学历史和优良的办学传统。整个学校将于2021年秋季搬迁至新校区。学校占地108亩，建筑面积95900平方米。现有61个教学班，在校学生2868人，教职工298人。校园环境优美，设施一流，教育教学欣欣向荣。
近年来，在咸阳市两级党委、政府的坚强领导和大力支持下，在各级教育行政部门的精心指导下，在社会各界的关心和帮助下，学校抓住新校建设机遇，全力推进。省级示范建设和深化教学改革，推动内涵发展，着力培养德、智、体、艺、工全面发展的新时代接班人。学校办学条件、育人环境、服务水平、教育质量、文化品位全面提升，对渭城乃至全市教育发展的作用日益凸显。学校管理体制更加完善和成熟。校风正气，教风优良，学风浓厚。高考成绩持续高位增长。学科竞赛佳绩频报，教学科研成果丰硕可喜。学校被20多所知名985、211大学授予优质生源基地，荣获100多项荣誉称号。其办学经验多次被《中国教育报》 《陕西日报》 《教师报》等主流媒体报道。
